Alocasia Melo is native to steamy Borneo. Known for its heart-shaped leaves of deep green colour with contrasting light green veins. As the plant matures, so do the leaves growing larger and on longer stems.

SIZE: Planted in a 12cm nursery pot. Height approx. 10cm.
LIGHT: Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can burn its leaves, so best not to place it near a window with filtered light. Enjoys a warm, humid environment. Sensitive to cold conditions. Keep it away from cold drafts or sudden temperature changes.
WATER: Prefers evenly moist soil, but do not over water as it does not enjoy being waterlogged. Grows best in good drainage soil. Water it thoroughly when the top few centimeters of soil feels dry.
MAINTENANCE: Fertilise with GROWTH TECHNOLOGY Foliage Focus Plant Food monthly during the growing season (spring/ summer).
PEST CONTROL: Alocasias are susceptible to pests such as spider mites and mealybugs. Check its leaves regularly for signs of infestation and treat any issues promptly.
REPOTTING: Alocasias prefer to be slightly root-bound, so these do not need to repotted often. When it does need to repotting it is best to do this in the spring or early summer, using a pot that is one size larger than its current pot.
TOXICITY: May cause irritation if ingested. Keep out of reach from children and pets.
