LECA (Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate) or Hydro Clay balls can be added to regular potting mixes as a soil amendment or can be used as a propagation media in hydroponic and semi-hydroponic setups. The wicking action and porous nature of LECA gives roots all they have ever wanted- access to both air and water.
